What is whiplash?

If you or someone in your family has been involved in a car accident in Ohio, you will want to know how to protect yourself or your loved one. Even the most minor fender bender accident has the ability to leave a person with an injury. In some cases, a physical injury caused by a vehicle crash may not always be evident immediately as symptoms may take a few days to manifest. Whiplash is one type of condition that is known to sometimes take a few days to appear.

The first step to a reduced drunk driving limit

Residents in Ohio have good reason to be concerned about drivers who refuse to put away their keys after they have been drinking. There are too many headlines to be found reporting on the death of innocent people at the hands of these drunk drivers. Such incidents have no reason to happen and are completely preventable if only people would make responsible choices. In some situations, the law may just need to be the way to force people to do this.

3-vehicle crash in Ohio leaves one dead

The more vehicles involved in a car crash, the more serious they can be, especially when drugs and/or alcohol play a part. A car crash in Clinton County, Ohio involving three vehicles claimed the life of one of the drivers, and though an investigation is ongoing, authorities suspect that alcohol and drugs were a factor.

Many teens can't keep themselves from texting while driving

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that for U.S. residents between the ages of 5 and 24, the leading cause of death is motor vehicle accidents. Taking proper precautions on the road, such as not speeding, proper use of protective car seats for children, and avoiding actions that lead to distracted driving can help reduce the number of fatal car accidents. The CDC estimates that nine people are killed every day in the U.S., and more than 1,000 are injured as a result of distracted driving.

What serious injuries can result from airbags?

Airbags are generally thought of as a helpful safety device in a vehicle. Often, they get credit for saving lives and preventing serious injuries. However, on occasion in Ohio, an airbag may be responsible for causing a serious injury. Do keep in mind that Resus explains most often airbag injuries result from the person not using a seat belt properly or sitting too close to the airbag. Still, there are some common serious injuries possible due to an airbag deploying in an accident.

Are cat bites dangerous?

Dog bites in Ohio are more likely to make the news than attacks from any other type of pet, and yet other domestic animals can also cause harm to humans by biting. You may not consider a cat a dangerous animal, and often they are not, but if you receive a bite from a cat that penetrates the skin, take it seriously. The Mayo Clinic reports that infections from cat bites are common and one in three patients bitten on the hand by a cat winds up in the hospital.

Post-accident advice

Being involved in a car accident is one of the last things a person in Ohio wants to think about when they get in their vehicle. However, the reality of today's world is that crashes can and do happen at any time. This is due, at least in part, to the fact that many negligent people fail to act in ways that are prudent and instead make choices that put innocent people at risk. Knowing this, it is important to have a plan in place for what to do should a wreck occur.
