Ohio residents who hop in their cars and hit the road every day should be able to do so without fear that an accident will happen. Sadly, that is not the reality of the world in which we live today. At any given point, an automobile accident can happen and much of the time these incidents are caused by poor actions or decisions on the part of drivers.
One recent crash in Dayton happened when a motorist was travelling on Interstate 75 but driving on the wrong side of the road against traffic. The driver heading the wrong way hit a truck carrying gasoline. Interestingly, the entire event was captured on video equipment installed by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The car first caught on fire and then some fire actually jumped to the other side of the freeway.
The trucker was injured in the wreck and the driver who caused the accident was actually killed. There are no reports of any other injuries or deaths but multiple other vehicles did have to get out of the way of the fire and the wreckage. No details about any efforts on the part of the state, the gas truck driver or company or others to seek compensation from the at-fault driver’s estate or insurance company have been released.
When accidents like this happen, survivors or those involved may want to reach out to a lawyer to learn about how they could or should pursue compensation.
