For many people, the relatively mild weather in Ohio during the latter part of this winter season is a welcome reality. However, the Ohio State Highway Patrol suggests that this unseasonably warm and temperate winter may have a deadly side. The law enforcement agency believes that the lack of severe winter weather has given drivers a false sense of security and encouraged people to drive more aggressively and less safely.
Examples of some accidents include a tragic crash along Ohio 238 that claimed the life of two people, including a little girl who was only eight years old. In two other accidents on Interstate 675, another three people were killed. One of those accidents involved a 30-year-old woman who was observed passing on the right and exceeding the speed limit just prior to the wreck. In January and the first three weeks of February this year, there have been 112 traffic fatalities in Ohio. Statewide, a total of 1,036 people lost their lives in motor vehicle accidents.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has said that it will be stepping up enforcements in an effort to crack down on unsafe behavior by people behind the wheel. Hopefully their efforts will be able to help keep more Ohioans safe.
Anyone in Ohio who is involved in a vehicle crash may find it useful to talk with a lawyer to learn about how they may seek compensation for their injuries.
